Claim the object, then use a chest
For a world object, get close enough to see its interaction prompt and use it. For a statue, interact during the activation window. Once you receive the unlock, use a clothing chest, including the one at the lodge spawn, to select the hat.
Fashion Star asks you to equip an item that is not sold in the store. The flowerpot is a documented short route; simply finding it without equipping the reward is a different step.
The Cocoa Hat has a tracked drinking total. Other object pickups are confirmed by an unlock and their presence in the chest; the sources do not publish a universal “all hats” progress counter.
