Sledding Game Low FPS and Performance Help

Use the current build’s Low, Medium or High graphics quality setting, then compare the same short route after changing one option. Record your hardware and resolution first. The official requirements do not guarantee a particular frame rate, and a network hitch is a different symptom from consistently low FPS.

PC performance checks based on the official requirements and September 21 graphics/performance changes. This guide contains no measured FPS claim.

Record the setup you are comparing

  • Store and build/date; CPU, GPU and RAM.
  • Display resolution and the current game quality selection.
  • Whether the slowdown happens at the lodge, on one route or throughout play.
  • Whether it occurs in your own small session or a busy hosted lobby, and whether the connection indicator pulses.

Compare the machine with the official requirements. Meeting the minimum specifies the developer’s hardware baseline; it does not certify smooth play at your chosen resolution.

Use the settings and fixes that are documented

The September update adds a Low / Medium / High graphics dropdown in Settings. Start with a lower choice if the current option is too demanding, then compare on the same route. The announcement does not detail which rendering effects each preset changes.

The developer also reports smoother UI, less frequent updates for distant lifts/prompts/audio and fewer save writes to reduce stutter. Tree detail levels now cross-fade. These are stated changes, not a measured gain on your hardware.

A pulsing HUD icon means difficulty connecting to the host. If that accompanies the hitch, follow the connection guide as well.

Change one option and compare

  1. Record the original selection

Keep the current quality setting so you can restore it.

  2. Lower one setting

Change the documented quality preset, leaving the other comparison conditions unchanged.

  3. Repeat the same route

Compare several runs and note steady frame rate versus occasional freezes. A quieter lobby and a crowded one are not a controlled comparison.

  4. Keep or revert the change

Choose the setting that meets your own visual and responsiveness needs, or restore the original selection if the symptom is unchanged.

If the issue persists, report the build, hardware, resolution, location and comparison result. No supplied source establishes a universal driver tweak or guaranteed FPS increase.

If the symptom is horizontal tearing, compare VSync, frame caps and display refresh. For freezes specifically during high-polling-rate mouse movement, the mod guide describes the original mouse-fix author’s requirements and rollback.
